About
I completed my Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology at The University of the Free State with Cum Laude in 2015.
I have always had a special interest in working with children and adolescents. I was the owner of a school for children with Special Needs from 2011-2013. I have a special interest in Social Skills Training for children with Autism and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. I was introduced to Gestalt Therapy during my Honours Degree in Psychology and fell in love with the approach. I have since improved myself with Gestalt Play Therapy and enjoy using this in my interaction with children.
In my Masters dissertation I used the topic of substance abuse and psychological strengths as predictors of coping amongst adolescents. I spend two years researching the topic and have a great interest in educating adolescents in coping strategies and teaching them to utilise their interpersonal strengths. My other passion lies with assessments of children and adolescents. This includes school readiness assessment, assessment for concessions, general scholastic assessment, subject choice counselling and career counselling.

I believe in identifying scholastic and other problems as soon as possible in order to assist children and adolescents to overcome their academic obstacles. As for subject choice counselling and career counselling I believe that every individual needs guidance in making an informed decision. I use a holistic approach which includes the individual’s narrative, personality, interests, aptitude, scholastic abilities and life goals to reach a decision together with the child.
